Exposing the Downfalls of Old School Lead Generation
Before the days of the internet, insurance agents relied on several commonly used methods of lead generation. Although these methods are still used from time to time, they are not nearly as popular due to the popularity of the internet. As an agent, you should be concerned with the lead generation plan that works best for you; whether it is online or off. Unfortunately, many agents never take the time to assess their lead generation plan.
One of the most common "old school' methods of lead generation is to place ads in local newspapers. This was something that agents and brokers did in the past. While it can still be effective, you must consider the cost compared to other forms of advertising. Sure, you may be able to generate some leads by using the newspaper, but would this be more cost effective than an internet marketing campaign?
Another thing of the past is buying billboard space. Every so often you may see a billboard that displays an ad for a particular insurance agent or company. But once again, the cost of doing this may not be best for you.
If all of these methods are a thing of the past, how should today's agents generate leads? One of the best ways of doing this is to purchase insurance leads instead of spending money on advertising campaigns that do not guarantee results. When you purchase a lead you know that you are going to get something in return: the chance of making a sale. But putting your face on a billboard offers not guaranteed return. You may receive a few inquiries, or you may find that you wasted a lot of money.
Look into the buying leads as opposed to past methods. When you rely on the internet to purchase and generate leads, you will find yourself achieving more success while spending less money. |
